For at-home beauty treatments, a reliable lash and brow dye kit can be a game-changer. We set out to trial the newly branded 1000 Hour Lash & Brow Dye Kit, a cult-favourite product known for delivering salon-quality results from the comfort of home.

With its updated packaging and promise of long-lasting colour, we wanted to see if it lived up to the hype.

Over several weeks, different team members tested the kit on a variety of brow and lash types, from fair and sparse to naturally dark and full. We followed the instructions carefully, applying the dye with precision to assess ease of use, effectiveness, and overall results.

“A lot of my friends have been using this product for a long time so my first impressions came when noticing how good their lash tint looked – and I have been wanting to try the product for myself since.

The application is pretty straightforward, the instructions are simple and clearly outlined and I was able to effectively apply the product myself. 

I chose the shade black/ brown which I think was the perfect shade to enhance my natural lashes while still looking natural. I found that my lashes began fading 2 weeks after application, which is a satisfying result for the price of the product and the ease of the application.

I’ve been regularly getting my lashes professionally lifted and tinted for years. Considering the difference in convenience and cost the 1000 lash kit is absolutely a great product that provides a very similar end result.

I would absolutely recommend this product. I would recommend having a kit at home to anyone interested in dyeing their lashes or brows because the second you decide you want it done 20 minutes later you can have your desired look achieved. I did find the mixing tray a little bit inconvenient and messy and would like an altered version of this.

I would rate this product an 8/10″.

“I had used this product before – whilst it took some getting used to, it really is a game-changer for more affordable lash and brow tinting. 

Application process is relatively easy – I actually asked my sister to tint my eyelashes, and I tinted hers. So, from that perspective, it’s really easy. I just asked her to close her eyes and I applied the tint and processor. 

Whilst the root of my lash is very dark, the ends (which curl) are blonde from the sun. I find it really complements the look of my lashes in extending them and making them look thicker. 

The dye faded evenly and lasted about two weeks. For the price, that’s a great return compared to a professional service. I did have some sensitivity washing the dye from my eyelashes – but once it was removed, I had no problems or reactions. I had some minimal dye underneath my eyes, however. 

As someone who regularly gets lash lifts and tints, because I won’t get extensions or wear false lashes, I love this product. Professional applications are expensive and whilst they may last longer, you can’t get them regularly because of the grade ingredients they use and the price is massively different. 

I would absolutely recommend this kit – and I have. The instructions are straight forward and the application is easy, however not foolproof. I would absolutely ask someone else to apply the treatment for me. I would not likely do this myself. 

I would increase the size of the plastic bristles on the mixing tool. I find mixing the dye and processor quite difficult, as it’s quite glob-y, to combine. I would love a more effective mixing tool. 

Truly a 8.5-9/10 product for me. I love it”.

“I love the new package design and the instructions are really easy to follow. It is a process that needs to be done carefully as if you spread the dye onto the skin it stains it which is not a good look. I went for dark brown which looked very very natural.

The dye lasted about 10 days and then faded. I need to re-apply the product about every 3 weeks to maintain colour. Which for the price point is fine.

It’s so quick and easy to use, I love that I can do this from home and don’t need to always book in at a salon. It is the perfect product for me and for my brow needs.

Definitely as the value for money is exceptional and I travel with it as it also well designed not to leak.

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t use this product to dye my lashes, as I was a little worried I would make a mistake and either get the dye everywhere or worse in my eye. For my brows though, it was very easy to work with and I loved the finished product.

The dye lasted around 2 weeks, which is fine, as I also think a lot of my original brows showing was actually new growth (much like my hair, my brows also never stop growing). I’m also not afraid to admit, I have grey hairs in my brows, and this dye covered them evenly without any inconsistence in the shade like other brands.

I opted to use a dish at home for the mixing, as I was worried the small plastic mixing tray that comes with the product was too small and I would get dye everywhere. Other than that the rest of the tools are easy enough to use and colour brows.

I would rate this product 10 out of 10.

“First impression of the product, was the simple packaging and straightforward instructions on how to use the dye. I also liked how everything I needed was included, from the mixing bowl to the tools and the dye. It’s very good value for money.

I did find it tricky to get the consistency just right when mixing the dye. I was a little nervous about dying my lashes, but wanted to see how it worked so went ahead and applied it to my lashes, by myself. Trying not to make a mess was a little challenging.

I shade I used was Natural Black and it blended perfectly. My lashes and eyebrows are black so my brows also looked more defined but still natural. The colour tastes around one week before fading, and the colour faded evenly which I was happy about.

I did experience a little irritation when washing off the dye but nothing major. I did also get some staining on the skin, which I was happy went away after a good cleanse.

Though salon tints last longer and are more precise in definition on the brows, for the price this kit does a solid job. It just takes a bit more effort and practice for consistency. It’s a great budget-friendly option for anyone wanting to do lashes and brows and can’t afford to go to a salon. I would maybe ask for a helping hand though, as the lash dying is a little tricky.

I also felt the mixing tool is too small so it makes it hard to blend. I think a better lash applicator would help also.
