Flawless bases and glow filters are hitting the market. Are they worth it? The BB Team finds out by road testing the Models Prefer HD Glow Filter.
MP Cosmetics, previously Models Prefer, are a Priceline exclusive brand committed to creating affordable and effective products for the busy woman who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on beauty products.
New on the beauty scene are tinted primers, skin filters, or sheer base products – rising in popularity for their blurring, glow-y effect without lots of effort or product.
MP Cosmetics have released their own – the HD Glow Filter, for “flawless, filtered skin” in a beat, with skin-healing and plumping ingredients including peptides and vitamin E. It also retails for $25 on Priceline, making it ultra affordable too.
The HD Glow Filter, “a multi-purpose miracle product” aims to shortcut foundation and primers to a great face base. To be worn alone or underneath foundation, the product creates a sheer radiance – for that uber-popular ‘glazed donut’ look.
The customisable coverage lends the product to a range of uses, according to the Priceline website. To be “applied to the high points of your face for a highlighter effect…or used a targeted concealer to illuminate the under eyes.”

With an ingredients list including peptides, vitamin E and glycerine the Glow Filter works to blur out skin and improve texture and redness over time. It’s recommended for use by itself, gently blended into the skin with a blender or fingers or worked in with sunscreen for a light coverage glow effect. For a natural, radiant glow, apply underneath foundation on heavier makeup days.
With a range of skin concerns and product experience, the Bondi Beauty team tested the product. Read about their road test experiences here:

MP does dupes so well, it is hard not to fall in love with all of them, given the extraordinary value for money. This excellent product is great as a makeup base to smooth the skin and provide a subtle but effective glow.
I’ve really enjoyed the packaging too. I’ve found it to be excellent for travel as it is not overly heavy. My skin responded well, and it’s a standout for travel, as it smooths the skin but does not block the pores. The most unique part is that I have never used a make-up base with glow, but this has it and I’ve loved it. 8.5/10.

I really love the MP HD Glow Filter – it’s an affordable, effective product perfect for my low make-up needs.
As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and wears sunscreen on the daily, this was a lovely addition for those days I felt I needed a little glow, but didn’t have the time to conceal, highlight and contour. The blend-able, sheering formula was perfect for my skin, as I have some larger pores around my nose which I like to be just filled. Yet, the product as I applied it didn’t cover my natural freckles or marks, which I really liked.
The price point is really accessible, and the minimal packaging was great. The pump was clean, and I find the product to be really tidy and sleek. I would seriously recommend this to someone new to the makeup game, or like myself, who loves makeup but doesn’t wear it often enough to invest in luxury, heavy product. 8.5/10

I would re purchase the HD Glow Filter. I really like how it worked on my skin and the coverage is amazing!
It was suitable for a night out foundation, being lightweight but at the same time high coverage. It also wasn’t fragranced, so it worked for my sensitive skin. I didn’t have any breakouts or irritation after the application, so I’ve been able to use it on my acne-prone skin. I also experience skin dryness, and I found the filter hydrating too.
The product packaging is really simple, aesthetically pleasing and minimalist. I loved this product, and it really worked for my skin needs. 9/10

The Glow Filter is not my shade, which has affected my overall experience. While the texture feels a bit chunky and watery, it does provide full coverage when applied and spread evenly on my skin.
The foundation has a smooth yet somewhat gluggy texture, which can feel watery upon application. Although it doesn’t have a noticeable fragrance, the texture may not suit everyone’s preference. When I applied it, it blended out evenly and offered good coverage, which made it more appealing. However, I couldn’t use it on my face due to the mismatch in colour.
The foundation came in a simple bottle without any additional packaging. It was a standard packaging experience. I would consider purchasing it again, however I would need to find a shade more suited to my skin tone. 7/10
